Biography

Born and raised in Seoul, South Korea, Youngkeun Suh naturally gravitated to art since her early childhood.  As a child, she fed her artistic passion by making paper dolls, designing their outfits and drawing casual portraits of celebrities. Her artistic talent was quickly recognized by her family and close relatives.  During her youth, she was mentored by professional artists that helped refine her repertoire of drawing, painting, and sculpting skills.  After that she went to Ewha University  and earned a bachelor’s degree in Fine Art.  She also obtained her master’s degree in Communication Aesthetics of Education from Korea International Culture University of Graduate in Seoul.

Youngkeun has been a professional artist and has devoted over a decade to teaching students her techniques, knowledge, and philosophy of art.  She has won awards including the Grand Prize at the International Women’s Art Festival in Korea and was given Honorable Mention in the Hawaiian Watercolor Society. Youngkeun has also been appointed to judge for juried art exhibitions in Seoul due to her expertise in fine art.  

Youngkeun’s passion in art can be felt in her art pieces. She focuses on painting and drawing the beauty of floral, portraits and figures to express joy, love, harmony and her inner sense of gratitude for life. Her love affair with watercolor and recently with pastel make her art more splendid and graceful.  Younkeun believes she is blessed to live her life as an artist who has the freedom to portray the beauty of this world.
